Heart for Music is grateful for our most recent grantees and donors supporting our program:

These contributions are helping us bring the joy and therapeutic benefits of music to more seniors living in not-for-profit care homes across British Columbia.

The Launch of New Programs

With the support of our donors, we are excited to expand our program to include several new projects.

Firstly, the Accessible Outdoor Musical Instruments for Seniors initiative, which introduces sturdy, all-weather instruments into outdoor communal spaces like courtyards and gardens, where residents can:

• Engage with music in a sensory-rich environment

• Experience the benefits of social connection and physical activity

• Enjoy moments of creativity, laughter, and shared joy.

These outdoor installations will benefit three not-for-profit care homes in BC, positively impacting over 300 seniors this year.

Additionally, this funding allows us to launch the Music Resources for Isolated Seniors project, which will be an expansion of our Heart For Music Program. This new program aims to:

• Reach 300 seniors living in small, not-for-profit care homes in the Fraser Valley

• Provide personalized music access through headsets, speakers, and tablets

• Support live music events for residents, creating moments of joy and community

• Equip care homes to bring music therapy tools to seniors who have never had access to them

  
  

For many older adults, especially those living with dementia, Alzheimer’s, or mental health challenges, music has the power to spark memories, reduce stress, and improve emotional well-being.

Sadly, many local seniors are marginalized and forgotten, and care staff often face the financial and emotional burden of trying to provide meaningful recreation with limited resources. Thanks to our donors, Heart For Music is better equipped to bring the healing power of music to seniors across Canada.

At Heart For Music, we believe that the way we treat our elders is a reflection of our society. By providing them with opportunities for joy and relaxation in a time and place in their lives where this can be limited, we are actively working to better all of our futures.
