The Summer of 2025 was a sun and music-filled season, reminiscent of the good old days.
Thanks to our capable summer student, and the support of our volunteers, community partners, and generous donors, we were able to bring joy to older adults and raise awareness about the Heart for Music program in BC. Here's a look back at the highlights from our summer events.

Community Events: Sharing Heart for Music with the Public
At the Sun Festival, we connected with families, musicians, and people with loved ones living in care who were eager to learn about Heart for Music. Many were surprised to find out that the music equipment we provide to care homes, including tablets and headphones, is theirs to keep. Our prize wheel was a hit with kids, and we had great conversations with people interested in volunteering or bringing music to loved ones in care.
Motors & Music was a unique blend of classic cars and live tunes. Despite a rainy start, the skies cleared and the music played on. We were grateful for the space to engage with community members and spread awareness about our foundation, and to sponsor a great cause, supporting tuition and scholarships for children of fallen officers. Event staff went above and beyond to help with setup, and we were so thankful for their support and for our volunteer's assistance throughout the day. While the crowd was cozy, we made meaningful connections, and it was a relaxed and enjoyable day full of music.

Care Home Events: Bringing Music to Those Who Need It Most
At Delta View Habilitation Centre's annual Canada Day celebration, the day was filled with music and good food. We were happy to support this event, where the live music brought smiles and connection to everyone present. Volunteers helped with setup, takedown, and engaging attendees, while residents enjoyed wristbands and Polaroid keepsakes. Delta View's new therapy garden, home to our Tenor Tree instrument installation, added a beautiful touch to the day.
George Derby Centre was colorful and musical, as always. The turnout was incredible, with residents and children from the daycare joining in the fun. The live band, Rhythm Street, played crowd favorites and had everyone clapping, singing, and dancing. Volunteers kept the energy high, taking photos, chatting with attendees, and helping with activities. The balloon artist was a huge hit, and we extended his time to keep the joy going, and cotton candy brought out the kid in everyone. It was a powerful reminder of how music can uplift and unite across generations.

Drum & Decorate: A Creative Celebration of Heart for Music
Drum & Decorate was one of our most ambitious events this summer, and it turned out beautifully. With help from Long & McQuade and our amazing volunteers, we hosted a creative and musical afternoon that brought in a box full of donations and plenty of smiles. Long & McQuade Vancouver generously opened their store parking lot for our event, and their assistance with the set-up and supplies were so appreciated. A small group gathered for a drum circle with facilitator, Rhonda Bruce of Balanced Energy Wellness, where we experienced the uniting rhythms of drumming. Attendees decorated mini maracas and created homemade tambourines for seniors living in care homes. Music and creativity brought people together, all to support the cause of music equipment for local seniors.

Thank You
None of this would have been possible without our incredible volunteers, community partners, and supporters like you. Your belief in the power of music helps us bring impactful equipment to older adults in care homes. As we look ahead to the fall, we carry with us the memories of a summer filled with generosity, familiar tunes, and connection.
